Q. Can ‘Selection Plus’ be run an any WEB browser?
A. While it does run on Chrome and Firefox etc, we have found it Explorer is the most stable platform in regard to layout and editing information. We therefore recommend you use Explorer for these studies.
Q. What if I have to change a device already selected in a study?
A. You can change a devices settings using edit but you cannot change the type of device as this renumbers the device and puts it out of sequence.
To change a device we recommend you delete it and all devices below it and reselect them all. (we are working to allow this changing /substituting in a future version.
Q. Why do the curves shown overlap below 0.01 sec? While other software /Manufacturers do not.
A. We have chosen to show what happens below 0.01sec while others simply leave this information out.
In this region Discrimination must be verified by test. The results of which are supplied in table format. The First page of all study printouts list the Discrimination /Backup levels for the Upstream/Downstream devices
Q. Why are there two curves shown for Circuit breakers.
A.The curves have been produced directly from the manufacturers information, in the case of Circuit breakers they always show a Max. and Min. curve (for each setting). This is the calibration band for the trip curve and the breaker protection will sit somewhere between these limits.
So grading with devices above must use the top curve. Grading with devices below must use the lower curve. Any software not showing both curves cannot be used to determine grading accurately.
Q. Why doesn't the software have all the manufacturers curves included?
A. The Selection Plus Software was specifically designed to include the curves for products sold by IPD, so includes the Fuses ad Circuit Breakers. This software is provided free to assist in the proper selection and coordination of protections systems IPD supply.
